Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a shield blazoned: Gules, a chevron Or sem of golpes, in base a fleur-de-lis within an annulet of the second. Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Gold scroll inscribed "RELIABLE AND RELENTLESS" in Black letters.

Symbolism
The golpe is a heraldic charge used to represent grapes which are symbolic of Rhineland. The fleur-de-lis within a ring represents service in Central Europe.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 548th Field Artillery Battalion on 17 April 1952. It was redesignated for the 548th US Army Artillery Group on 17 May 1967.
